A Very Walden Christmas Wooden Ornament

Every icon on this ornament is real. The saffron crocus that gave the town its name flowers in mid-autumn, just before the Christmas lights go up. The turf maze on the Common has 17 rings. The castle keep has been a ruin since Henry II ordered it slighted in 1157. And the market, which has been held in the town since 1141, has in recent years added Thursdays in the run-up to Christmas. Put them together and you get the most Walden decoration going, ready for the tree.
